Considering that the statute of limitations for lying to congress has passed and that Fauci himself helped create the legal definition for gain-of-function, it is unlikely that he will ever see the inside of a jail cell. However, Fauci did not take these actions strictly out of concern for the common good. He became a wealthy man as part of these actions. That is why a civil suit seems to be an appropriate response. We can still take every penny he has. That will be the real punishment for a man willing to do what he did to make a buck.
