Our good Team Reality friend Daniel Kotzin (long ago sadly ousted from Twitter) has written a tremendous Substack post outlining the failure of a high-vaccinated population like San Francisco to contain the virus. Daniel and his wife, the equally articulate Jennifer Sey, lived in San Francisco for over a decade and jettisoned the city by the Bay (my hometown by the way) for calmer waters during the pandemic. We interviewed this courageous couple some months ago on the podcast.

San Francisco is the most vaccinated city in the world. There are some places in which a higher percentage of adults have been vaccinated, but San Francisco is the undisputed leader in vaccinating children, which translates into the most mRNA shots per capita of any city in the world.

75% of children between the ages of 5 and 11 have been subjected to 2 or more Pfizer mRNA shots.

59% of children between the ages of 12 and 17 have been subjected to 3 or more Pfizer mRNA shots. The dosage in the shots administered to these children is the exact same as the dosage in the shots administered to adults.

Nonetheless, San Francisco is currently experiencing its second-largest covid wave of all-time. There is more covid in San Francisco right now than there was in the winter of 20/21 when virtually no one was vaccinated.

And no, the vaccines do not appear to be preventing hospitalizations, either. San Francisco has already surpassed its covid hospitalization peak from both last summer and the summer before that.
